THE PROPER CHOICE MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN FRAMING
Believe it or not, the glass you choose for your framed piece is as important as the frame itself. The glass, or glazing, can add considerably to the enjoyment of your piece, and more importantly, to the life of whatever you’re framing. So, how do you pick the right glass for your framing project? Consider the following points:
GLAZING SHOULD PROVIDE UV PROTECTION FOR YOUR ARTWORK, OR WHATEVER TREASURED POSSESSION YOU ARE FRAMING.
Sunlight, and even ordinary electric light, has harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that can quickly fade, discolor or make many items you might want to frame brittle. The best way to help protect against the irreversible damage of UV rays is to choose glazing that has UV protection built right into the glass.
GLAZING SHOULD ENHANCE, NOT INTERFERE WITH, THE VIEWING OF A WORK OF ART.
If your newly-framed piece will be hung in an area where there is glare potential from windows or other light sources, you will need a non-glare or an anti-reflective glazing product. Your FASTFRAME store has just the framing glass for you, with non-glare capabilities that will truly enrich the viewing pleasure of your piece. Your FASTFRAME store has great glazing choices to make the entire framing experience fit exactly what you need.
First, to reduce the damage caused by harmful UV rays, there is Conservation Clear from Tru Vue. This is a framing glass that has microscopic, silica-based UV blocking agents that produce an ultra-protective sheet of glass that enhances true colors and acts as a sunscreen for artwork. This keeps your framed piece fresh and attractive for years longer than regular glass. After all, UV rays cause art to fade and protection is a must.
For UV protection and glare reduction, there’s Conservation Reflection Control glass from Tru Vue. UV protection is chemically treated on one side – scattering light as it strikes the glass. This provides outstanding resolution and clarity without unwanted glare or distortion of the image. Plus, it also has UV protection that blocks 98 percent of all harmful indoor and outdoor UV light rays.
Finally, the best choice for maximum protection from glare, reflection, and UV light rays, is Museum Glass from Tru Vue. This is the highest quality anti-reflective picture framing glass in the industry. Tru Vue’s proprietary manufacturing process produces an ultra-protective, nearly invisible pane of clear glass. It protects against harmful light rays and has the highest light transmission along with the lowest refl ection rating of any other glass product.
Museum Glass also provides the highest brightness and contrast levels available. If you’ve never seen Museum Glass before, ask your FASTFRAME salesperson to show you how incredible artwork looks with this glazing. Shafiq Rajani, manager of three FASTFRAME stores in Chicago, says, “Museum Glass is simply the best product on the market. Once we show a display to our customers, they can see the difference immediately. It’s popular with our customers because they can put their piece anywhere in their home without worrying about glare.”
Protecting your art from harmful light rays is important. Allowing your artwork to be clearly seen allows the true character of your art to come through with every viewing. That’s what premium glazing can do for your framing project. Remember, not all framing glass is created equal. This is something to think about next time you visit your FASTFRAME custom framer. After all, sentimental family pictures, heirlooms and artwork should last years, as well as brighten up your home.
