![]() EARTH TONES & NEUTRALS DOMINATE HOME DECOR TRENDS AS MOULDING COMPANIES RESPOND WITH EYE-CATCHING OPTIONS This season, earth tones and neutrals will dominate matboard and moulding styles. As consumers appreciation and concern for the environment increases, so does their interest and acceptance in this new trend. “Everyone wants to return home at the end of the day to an environment where they can relax and be at peace,” says Francesca Spizzirri of Roma Moulding. Matt Kent of Nickell Moulding Co., adds, “People want to go back to a simpler, wholesome, earthy time.” Although the word “neutral” might sound plain, the new trend can be found in a variety of hues. This fall, Nickell Moulding is introducing fi ve new stain fi nishes and five new wrap colors developed to complement this new style with colors like Sunset Gold, Coco & Black Coffee and Ebony Moss. Larson-Juhl’s two new moulding collections complement the neutral earth-tone trends. Mantilla has an antiqued, aged look, and Cranbrook is characterized by wood tones and sophisticated shapes. While this trend comes in many shades and styles, its simplicity is a characteristic that is likely to keep it around for quite some time. The neutral mats and mouldings are versatile and capable of complementing a variety of settings. They can be paired with images that set off their color and texture, or more vibrant, color-contrasting images can be used for a more eye-catching piece. “The beauty of design is that everyone has an individual taste and lifestyle, and the trick is to play up that individuality,” Spizzirri says.
